Impact of diuretics use over AKI development and hospital mortality in ICU patients

چکیده
Methods Post-hoc analysis of a prospective observational cohort from a previous study on AKI conducted in our Unit. We defined AKI based in KDIGO II/III stages criteria. We calculated a PS for patients with or without diuretics by regression analysis and pairing 1:1 by quintiles grouping. Then performed an analysis for diuretic-AKI and diuretic-mortality by logistic regression, including the PS in it. Software R 3.1.2 para OsX. The Ethics Committee from our centre approved this work.

Impact of Transient and Persistent Acute Kidney Injury on Chronic Kidney Disease Progression and Mortality after Gastric Surgery for Gastric Cancer
Acute kidney injury (AKI) is common after gastric surgery for gastric cancer and associated with adverse outcomes. However, the impact of transient or persistent AKI on clinical outcomes after gastric surgery for gastric cancer has not been described. We performed a retrospective study of 4,886 patients with normal renal function who underwent partial or total gastrectomy for gastric cancer bet...
متن کاملFluid balance and urine volume are independent predictors of mortality in acute kidney injury
INTRODUCTION In ICUs, both fluid overload and oliguria are common complications associated with increased mortality among critically ill patients, particularly in acute kidney injury (AKI). Although fluid overload is an expected complication of oliguria, it remains unclear whether their effects on mortality are independent of each other. The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of both f...
متن کاملPlatelet counts and its course for predicting in-hospital mortality in intensive care unit
Background & Aims: Recent studies have shown that thrombocytopenia (TP) is associated with poor outcomes in patients with pneumonia, burns, and H1N1 influenza. The aim of this study is to determine the impact of platelet count trends and TP on mortality in intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Materials & Methods: TP was defined as <150,000 platelets/ml. In this study, 300 patients who had been ...
متن کاملFurosemide is associated with acute kidney injury in critically ill patients
Acute kidney injury (AKI) is common in critically ill patients. Diuretics are used without any evidence demonstrating a beneficial effect on renal function. The objective of the present study is to determine the incidence of AKI in an intensive care unit (ICU) and if there is an association between the use of furosemide and the development of AKI. The study involved a hospital cohort in which 3...
متن کاملRisk factors for injury acute renal in patients with severe trauma and its effect on mortality.
UNLABELLED The studies which associated acute kidney injury (AKI) and trauma emerged during the Second World War, and since then we have seen a progressive evolution of healthcare aiming at AKI prevention. However, establishing the risk factors for post-trauma AKI development remains crucial and may help reduce this complication. OBJECTIVE This study aims at identifying risk factors vis-à-vis...
